NEWS FROM THE LIBRARY

Three Cheers for the Fisherman!

The Library Challenge for the PreSchool—8th Grade has concluded.  Seven children and young people participated.  Faith Hendrickson was the all around best reader for the Pre-K classes.  Faith was blessed by her family members who read to her.

All children are encouraged to read when they are urged to do so by their parents, and when the parents read to them and with them.

Some children may find reading difficult for various reasons.  Children can be helped greatly by the parent reading a page and the child reading a page.  Parents give an example of the sound of pronunciation, fluidity, and very importantly— expression which gives example and meaning to the written word.

Back to the contest— Every child did a great job: Isaac and Faith Hendrickson, Jayden and Gavin Tureson  were all determined to get their Dairy Queen prize, and they won their prizes. Three Cheers for the Whaling Hunters! Three upper grade children: Rylee Kuusisto, Conner Ralidak, and  Ethan Hendrickson chose to enter the Whale Hunters Challenge.  They were to read two upper grade books chosen by the librarian plus one more from a selection chosen by the librarian.  They all met their goals.

Thank you to students and parents who participated.  I felt it was very successful.  My goals were met as they met theirs!
